cyp76 transcribes the enzyme necessary for santalol production.
Biology
cyp450 has the capability to hydroxylate carbon at different positions using various terpenes as substrates. As a result, it can catalyze the hydroxylation of C12 in santalene to produce santalol. Many scholars have cloned multiple cyp450 genes from S. album by analyzing and mining the transcriptomic database inyieldation. Most of these genes have the ability to catalyze the conversion of sandalene to santalol, with Sa_CYP76_F39v1 exhibiting a catalytic rate close to 100%[1].
